Recieved lump sum backpay?

I have been staying with my daughter for a year/ i am bi polar and am waiting to get back on ssi. I found out last week taht I am going to recieve 4 years backpay over 20,000 dollars I have been cooking washing cleaning and free babysitting for over a year. my daughter wants me to pay them for staying at there home while waiting for my monies. IDo you think that I should pay them for taking care of them for the last year or am i being selfish to think that I dont owe them anything. my mental health counsler thinks that I should take the money and run.
